Here In the Snow
December 27, 2009
My breath catches in the cold tonight
How simple a thing
That captivates me
A fresh snow fall
Dancing
dancing
In the night
Blanketing the earth
Quieting my thoughts
Hammering in my head
Quiet
quiet
The wind draws my coat tight
The snow melts in my hair
And my mind is at ease
Here in the snow

Your writing has so captured the essence of what I am seeing outside of my window right now! Overnight the snow has quietly blanketed the earth and has dressed the trees in shiny white garments. The world is clean. Pure. Without blemish. And the snow continues to fall. It would be so awesome to stroll through the woods at this time. My footprints would mar the very beauty that I had gone to admire, yet the falling snow would forgive those transgressions and make it all new again. Thank you Lord for this poignant reminder of Your own cleansing power!
